The Advocate — one of the most prominent LGBTQ+ publications in the United States — featured the Bowie 1976 collection in a piece about Playboy's support for emerging and LGBTQ+ artists in the NFT space.
The article highlighted how the Bowie 1976 project, created by Shantell Martin with graphic design and animation by me and Observatory, was part of a broader initiative by Playboy to use their platform and archives to support underrepresented artists. All primary sale proceeds went to GLAAD, with Playboy making an additional donation.
Being featured in The Advocate placed the work in a context that felt meaningful — not just as a creative exercise, but as part of a larger conversation about representation, equality, and the potential for NFTs to serve purposes beyond speculation.
